Haras de La Mellerie

Founded in 1984, the Haras de La Mellerie was created with a simple vision: to live and work with horses in harmony with nature.

Set on the edge of the small harbour of Port de Richard, in the Médoc peninsula, the stud lies between the Atlantic pine forests and the Gironde estuary, far from traffic and everyday noise.

Surrounded by meadows, gardens and wooded paddocks, the property offers a peaceful and authentic environment where horses shape the rhythm of life. All accommodations open onto the natural surroundings, allowing guests to enjoy the quiet presence of the herds throughout their stay.

From the very beginning, the Haras de La Mellerie has been dedicated to leisure horses and to a form of horsemanship focused on pleasure, reliability and long-term partnership. Riding, long-distance trails and driving have always been preferred to competition, in an approach that values the horse’s well-being, balance and willingness.

Today, the horse farm remains true to this spirit, offering a place to slow down, reconnect with nature and experience horses in a respectful and meaningful way.
